about

oslo8 turns 5

we founded oslo8 in 2011 as a gallery for contemporary photography, opening our first show with René Burri. Our vision was to create a space for everything related to contemporary photography: installations, events, projections. Better and less known, younger and older artists, found a platform. Now, after 5 years and 30 shows we would like to look back at what was achieved.

We would like to thank all artists, photographers, visitors, cultural institutions, museums, journalists, foundations and friends for their support of oslo8.

So it's time to think about how the next 5 years could look like for oslo8. The option of a classic exhibition platform with a permanent space has reached it's limits for us.Off spaces, pop-up exhibitions, curated shows at relevant spaces are more flexible.

Therefore we will leave our space after the farewell drinks and send oslo8 on it's journey into the future.

oslo8, in the meantime an established name in contemporary photography, will realise projects, exhibitions or cooperations with other institutions. This new form will be a big challenge and also a big chance for osloaphy, will realise projects, exhibitions or cooperations with other institutions. This new form will be a big challenge and also a big chance for oslo8.

The first of these projects will be a show by Yaakov Israel at the Musée des beaux Arts Mulhouse during the 2nd Mulhouse Biennale of Photography in 2016,opening june 3, 2016.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to one of our next shows.
